Route Description
A46 Leicester to Lincoln
Route description
The A46 Leicester to Lincoln Route Management Strategy considers the A46 from Leicester to Lincoln. It includes the Western bypass to Leicester, crosses the A1 at Newark-on-Trent, and then continues to the A57 north of Lincoln. Much of the route follows the line of the original Fosse Way roman road.
The route is approximately 55 miles in length from junction 21a of the M1 at Glenfield, west of Leicester to the A57 on the Lincoln bypass. The A46 is single-carriageway along approximately two thirds of its length, with the other sections being dual carriageway.
