M42/M5/M6 (Birmingham Box) Route Management Strategy

The Strategy

Introduction

Route Management Strategies are being developed by the Highways Agency to provide a framework for managing individual trunk routes as part of wider traffic networks. This study involves consulting with stakeholders and other consultees to formulate a strategic plan for the Midland Motorway Box for the next 15 years. The plan will identify where problems lie and where investment may be needed. It is hoped that feedback from a wide spectrum of users will be received so that improvements can be effectively prioritised.

Route Management Strategies are not about building new roads, they are about making better use of the roads we already have.

Route Management Strategies are developed to interlock with regional and local planning. The RMS should take account of Regional and Local Transport Policies, Development Plans, the Planning Green Paper and the Mineral and Waste Plans.
