About the works
A663 Broadway Major Road Works
Why are we doing it?
The A663 Broadway between Moston Lane East and A627(M) at Elk Mill Roundabout requires major road works both northbound and southbound.
What work is going to be done?
- Resurfacing of the carriageway.
- Repairing the carriageway where damage has occurred.
- Removal of existing gullies and replacement with a new kerb drainage system wherever possible.
- Upgrading some of the pedestrian crossings.
- A major junction improvement at Hollinwood Avenue to include a new pedestrian island.
How will we manage traffic?
Traffic management is required to provide a safe environment for the travelling public andthe workforce.
- The route will be open to traffi c in both directions for the majority of the works.
- Where diversions are necessary they will be clearly signed.
- We will try and maintain vehicular access to properties, at all times. Where this is not possible
- alternative parking areas will be provided close by.
- Access will be made available for the emergency service at all times.
- Mandatory speed limits will apply and speed cameras will be in use.
When are we doing the work?
- We will start July 2004 and work is expected to last 7 months.
- We will work between 7.30am and 7.30pm, 7 days a week. In some areas work will continue until 11pm. Where closures are not possible during the day, work will take place through the night. We will contact those affected before we start.
- The majority of the work in the area of schools will be done during the summer holiday.
- We will keep you informed with regular newsletters and updates on the Highways Agency website.
