| January 2004 | Publication of the strategy - A ten-year programme for managing the route was published. |
| May 2003 | Public Consultation - Road users and local people were given the opportunity to comment on the proposed strategy, by a combination of exhibitions, consultations and a questionnaire |
| September 2002 and February 2003 | Workshops - The purpose of the workshops was to: -develop the general form of the strategy -identify the best ideas for future action -determine the form of public consultation. (Attendance at the workshops was limited to a small number of key stakeholders.) |
| June 2002 | Seminars: The Highways Agency held seminars in June 2002. The purpose of the Seminars was to present the initial strategy and to give an opportunity for representatives from organisations, interested parties, transport and public groups to comment and to explore problems and ideas, relevant to the M6 motorway study corridor. These took place on: -26th June Penrith - Rheged Discovery Centre -27th June Preston - County Hall. |
