The Proposals
The main elements of the proposals are:
- The provision of a new two lane carriageway to form a dual carriageway. The new carriageway will be on the northern side of the existing road.
- Improvement to existing junctions and where possible, the closure of minor side roads and property/field accesses.
- Improved facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.
- Existing laybys will be closed and new ones provided.
- The new carriageway will be surfaced with materials, which have low noise properties.
- Planting and landscaping will help to mitigate the effect of the dualling on the local environment. The road will remain unlit.
The proposals will:
- Allow slow moving vehicles to be overtaken safely.
- Reduce the number of junctions and direct accesses to the trunk road. The remaining junctions will be improved.
- Improve facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.
