The Project
Part of the National Communication scheme to inform drivers of the potenial hazards ahead. The works were put on hold while the M6 Toll works were taking place.
The works are to install inductive loops and signalling between junction 3 - 4 as part of the Highways Agency's efforts to reduce accidents, congestion and provide better information to drivers.
Works until the Christmas/New Year break should cause minimal distruption to motorists as closures will be limited to hardhoulder closures in the daytime with lane closures taking place at night.
After Christmas there will be a period of several weeks where traffic will be running narrow lanes and hard shoulder with an enforced temporary speed limit.
