The first seminar was held on 9th of March 2001 at the Forest Pines Hotel off the M180 near Junction 5. The main objective of the seminar was to involve a broad range of interested parties in the initial stages of the RMS process, to listen, to discuss, and to share views on how the route currently operates and how it may be developed in the future. A series of presentations was given to provide those attending with knowledge about the background and issues associated with the route and the RMS process. Those attending participated through syndicate groups in identifying problems and in some cases possible solutions.
