| March 2003 | Internal Workshop: Route functions, objectives and problems are established. A draft strategy is tabled. |
| April/May 2003 | Stakeholder Consultation: Representatives from local authorities, transport groups and a wide range of other interested parties will be asked for their views. |
| July 2003 - March 2004 | Value Management Workshops: Key stakeholders were consulted in order to help to prioritise problems and solutions. |
| April 2003 - September 2004 | Produce draft RMS: A draft detailed strategy was developed for the Public Consultation. |
| October 2004 - January 2004 | Public Consultation: Relevant comments are requested from the public to be taken forward to the final RMS document. |
| February 2005 | Publication of the M18 RMS document. |
