The Project
This was a combined safety and essential maintenance project to the interchange at the Junction 24 overbridge and also the Newton Road overbridge. The bridge piers were strengthened and the aluminium parapets replaced to provide greater structural safety in the event of a collision.
Bridge rehabilitation works included re-waterproofing, re-surfacing and replacement of joints.
The Junction 24 works started on 07 November 2005 and the Newton Road works started on 09 January 2006. All work was completed late March 2006.
