The Project

The Highways Agency carried out major maintenance work on the M3 between Junction 3 and 4 starting in September 2005. The work was completed in January 2006.

The essential work comprised the replacement of drainage systems to prevent potential subsidence of the M3. The work took place between Watchett's Pond, near Junction 4 and The Maultway (B3015).

When planning road projects, we ensure work is programmed to cause the least amount of disruption to local residents and the travelling public. To complete this scheme within the shortest possible time it was necessary to carry out 24 hour working.
