The Project

The Highways Agency carried out three essential maintenance schemes to renew road markings and white lining on the A45 and the A46 around Coventry.

How long will it take?

The works started on Monday 14 November 2005 and were completed by Wednesday 07 December 2005.

The work was carried out from 0930 to 1530, Monday to Friday when traffic flow was lower. By carrying out this essential maintenance work during off-peak hours, we were able to complete the work safely and quickly whilst minimising disruption to motorists.

Work on the A45 between the A45/B4455 Fosse Way and the A45/A4071 near Thurlaston started at 0930 on Monday 14 November and was completed by 1530 on Monday 28 November.

Work on the A46 Coventry Eastern Bypass between M69/A46 and Tollbar started at 0930 on Wednesday 16 November and was completed by 1530 on Wednesday 07 December.

Work on the A46 Kenilworth and Warwick Bypass between the A46/A45 /A444 Festival (Stivichall) Island and Longbridge started at 0930 on Friday 18 November and was completed by 1530 on Monday 05 December.

Traffic Management

As work progressed along the A45 and A46 carriageways, we needed to close adjacent exit and entry slip roads. Short diversion routes were well signed to direct drivers to the next slip road where they could turn back.

There was a 40mph speed limit through the work site for the safety of workers and motorists.
