The Project
After several years in the planning, Bingley town centre has been transformed following completion of the contract to build the town's long awaited relief road.
The Project has won high engineering acclaim by winning the Institution of Civil Engineer's Yorkshire Region award for excellence in concept, design and execution of engineering works.
One of the biggest road schemes in Yorkshire and the Humber at the time, it was also one of the most technically challenging with 26 structures including nine bridges throughout its three mile length, a multimillion pound bridge spanning the River Aire and a low level bridge spanning Bingley South Bog.
One Year After Report
North of Bradford, the A650 Bingley Relief Road opened to traffic on the 22 December 2003. This scheme involved the upgrade of a single carriageway section to a new dual carriageway and is one of the biggest road schemes within the region of Yorkshire and Humberside.
This report represents the ‘One Year After’ report for the A650 Bingley Relief Road scheme and is part of the Post-Opening Project Evaluation (POPE) commission undertaken on behalf of the Highways Agency (HA)
