A66 Scotch Corner to Penrith

Route description

The A66 provides a main trans-Pennine route linking the M6 at Penrith with the A1 at Scotch Corner. The route is a mixture of dual and single carriageway. It carries 15,000 to 18,000 vehicles per day, 27% of which are heavy goods vehicles.
