The Project

The A6 Clapham Bypass officially opened on 12th December 2002. The scheme consists of a 5 km long new section of dual carriageway road, diverging from the current A6 on the northern outskirts of Bedford and rejoining the trunk road north of Clapham towards Milton Ernest.

Five Year After study

As part of our ongoing programme of Post Opening Project Evaluation (POPE) this scheme has been reviewed at one and five years after opening.  The studies compare the outturn effects of this scheme to the predicted impacts. A summary of the five year after report is available to download here: A6 Clapham Bypass Summary Report (PDF 49KB)
