M5 South of Junction 9 to Junction 15 Route Management Strategy
Why are we doing this?
Route Management Strategies will enable the Highways Agency to make best use of the existing network and to provide a high quality, responsive service to those who use or are affected by the network. The Agency will do this by pursuing improvements under its five investment criteria:
- Safety
- reducing road casualties;
- Economy
- reducing overall travel costs and increasing journey time reliability, minimising construction and maintenance costs, and supporting regeneration;
- Environment
- managing associated biodiversity, landscape, townscape, heritage, local air quality, noise, waste materials and water quality;
- Accessibility
- improving access to public transport and generally assisting pedestrians, cyclists, equestrians and other vulnerable user groups including disabled people; and
- Integration
- integrating all forms of transport and also integrating transport with land use planning to develop a better and more efficient transport system.
