Main Carriageway Nears Completion
This week has seen the completion of the concrete slip forming work for the main carriageway of the bypass.
Over the last 3 months we have laid 85,000m2 of road (Approx 40,000t of reinforced concrete).
In the next few weeks we will be laying the bituminous wearing course followed by installation of signs, road markings and other finishing works.
Roundabout Construction is Progressing Full Speed Ahead
Work is currently progressing well with the construction of the 3 bypass roundabouts. The East Roundabout will be the first to open (target date 10th October). This will coincide with the re-opening of New Cut. The West Roundabout should follow 1 week later.
To allow us to reconstruct Station Road efficiently we are arranging 2 weekend closures. The diversion route will be signed via New Cut to the East of Thorney and closure dates are given below. We apologise for the inconvenience this will cause. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use Station Road throughout and access to properties will be maintained.
Key Weekend Traffic Management Dates:
| 8th-9th October 05 | Single way traffic lights to allow East Roundabout & New Cut to be opened. |
|---|---|
| 15th-16th October 05 | Single way traffic lights to allow West Roundabout to be opened. |
| 22nd-23rd & 29th-30th October 05 | Station Road Closure (Diversion via New Cut) for surfacing works |
Station Road Footbridge
The first four sections of the footbridge steel work are now complete and ready to bring to site. This includes the main span over the carriageway which we hope to erect during the week commencing 26th September.
