Introduction

Introduction

Tim Hughes

Welcome to our first newsletter which is aimed at keeping you up to date with progress on construction of the A10 Wadesmill Bypass. My name is Tim Hughes. I am the Highways Agency Project Manager for the scheme based, in our Bedford Office.

I am determined to maintain good contacts with local residents throughout the construction period. To help us to us achieve this our contractor Fitzpatrick/Lafarge JV has signed up to the Considerate Constructors scheme. Throughout the contract we aim to keep disruption to local residents to a minimum. Noise monitoring is ongoing and well within required levels. Construction operations and site vehicle movements are being carried out with great care and consideration for the safety of the general public, as well as site personnel. No building activity shall be a safety risk to others.

So far we have made excellent progress: -approximately 55 percent of the total earthworks volume for the contract has been moved, which is on target. All structures are now under way and our first bridge beams have been installed at the River Rib Bridge. The next edition of the newsletter will appear in the autumn '03. If you have any queries or problems or need any further information please do not hesitate to contact Zilke Moffett who is our site based Community Liaison Officer, on 01920 823714.
