Newsletter Issue 3 Autumn 2004
Introduction
Welcome to the third issue of our newsletter for the M60 Junction 5 to 8 Widening Scheme.
I hope that, since our last newsletter in Spring 2004, you will have noticed that our contractor AMEC Alfred McAlpine Joint Venture has made signifi cant progress. The scheme is still on programme for completion by Spring 2006.
As the works have continued a great deal of public interest about the scheme has been received, particularly with the recent opening of two new footbridges. Thisnewsletter brings you up to date with some of the work that has been completed so far and will give you an idea of what is yet to come.
With the amount of construction activity that has taken place it has been essential to close the motorway to traffic on selected Saturday nights to erect new bridges and demolish existing structures. I apologise for any inconvenience this has caused, but hope the advanced notices published in the local newspapers, road signs and letter drops have kept you all adequately informed.
There is still a lot of work to do, but the work that has been completed so far has gone really well and a great deal has been achieved by everyone involved.
I am pleased to let you know you that we have arranged some further public exhibitions. Details are given on the back page. Please come along to one of thevenues to discuss any concerns or interests that you may have in the works, or to fi nd out what works will be undertaken during the remainder of the project.
