Project Objectives

1. Integration

  • Looking for local multi-modal opportunities
  • Supporting regional and local transport strategies with particular reference to the South Pennines Integrated Transport Study (SPITS)

2. Safety

  • Improving safety for all road users in the villages of Mottram, Hollingworth and Tintwistle

3. Economy

  • Reducing congestion and delays to through and local traffic
  • Improving journey time reliability

4. Environment

  • Effecting a net improvement in the built and natural environment, by improving the local environment of Mottram, Hollingworth and Tintwistle, and minimising the impact of the project with particular reference to the Peak District National Park

5. Accessibility

  • Reducing community severance
  • Enhancing facilities for vulnerable and non-motorised users
  • Improving access to local public transport
