Views of the Area
The Stone Cross on Gibbet Hill, erected in 1851 to reduce local fears that the Hindhead Common area was haunted.

The Sailor's Stone on the Old Portsmouth Road marks the murder of a seafarer in 1786 while crossing Hindhead Common. The perpetrators were hanged nearby - hence Gibbet Hill
