Disabled Driver Questionnaire
We want to produce a driver information programme for our disabled customers. To help us produce the best possible guidance, please take a few minutes to fill in our questionnaire.
Better information for your journey
The National Traffic Control Centre collects real-time information on road conditions.
The Project Control Framework

The Project
The Highways Agency is carrying out a series of improvement works on the M1 between junctions 20 and 21, which when complete will result in improved safety for all road users, lower road surface noise and reduced congestion.
On 3 January 2006 we started work to resurface all three lanes on both sides of the motorway, including the slip roads, using a quieter road surface to reduce noise levels for residents in the Lutterworth area and to improve the safety and durability of the road. We completed this work on 31 March 2006.
Traffic Management
The Highways Agency actively plans to minimise the impact of the works on road users. We set up diversion routes with clear signs and also installed signs at the roadside to let road users know when each section of work was due to start.
We kept three lanes of traffic running in both directions at peak times. Wide loads were diverted along the M69 and M6.
To ensure the safety of road workers and road users a 40mph speed limit was in force during the works with temporary safety cameras in use to monitor average speeds.
How you can plan your journey
Roadworks inevitably cause delay but you can play your part in keeping traffic moving by taking extra care, planning your journey and allowing more time.
- follow the signed diversion routes
- avoid the works area if possible
