The Project
The resurfacing and Improvement of the A66 Trunk Road westbound carriageway Aldby Farm.
The work will take place between 30 January 2006 and 31 March 2006 and will be phased to minimise disruption to road users and local businesses.
The works will include:
- Removal of existing surfacing
- Reinstatement of new surfacing
- Improvements to drainage
- Renewal of kerbs
Traffic Management
For the duration of the work the traffic will be managed to provide a safe environment for both the travelling public and the workforce. These measures will cause some disruption.
The works will be carried out in phases using lane closures and contra flow traffic management during the day. Traffic lights will be in place and manually operated between the hours of 09.00 to 17.00 hours. A mandatory 40 mph will be in place.
When the contra flow management is in place, it will be necessary to close the C3019 junction to Stainton village and the majority of the central reserve openings in the dual carriageway. Advance signing will be erected to give users of the highway prior notice of the closures and appropriate local diversion routes.
Vehicle access to properties and side roads will be maintained at all times where possible however, there will be a short periods of time where this will not be practical. Prior notice will be given to all properties affected.
We will endeavour to minimise disruption to road users, local businesses and residents.
Benefits
- Provide a quieter road surface.
- Prolong the life of the carriageway.
- Reduce spray from the vehicles in wet weather.
Completion
Work on this project was completed on 6th March 2006.
