The Project
The Highways Agency has installed a combined environmental noise barrier and safety fence alongside the southbound carriageway of the A46, on the bridge over the Grand Union Canal. Works originally started on 23 January 2006 and were due for completion by June 2006. Works were substantially completed in May. However, a problem with delivery of a number of the noise panels meant that the scheme could not be completed by June and had to be put on hold. Works recommenced as planned on 30th August, however they were suspended shortly afterwards and finally resumed on 6 November. The scheme was completed on 13 November 2006.
