Q: Why is it necessary to close the A14 for the whole weekend on 10/11 December to install the footbridge?
A: Extensive consideration has been given to the working times and we have now agreed with the contractor on site that the road will close between 06.00 and 19.00 on Saturday and, if necessary, between 06.00 and 16.00 on Sunday. It will not be closed for the whole weekend.
Q: Isn't it poor planning to carry out these works in the busy period leading up to Christmas?
A: We understand the concern but it is important to maintain progress on a busy programme of improvements taking place on the A14 in Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire. The viaduct works at Nene Viaduct must be tackled as soon as possible to keep the road in a safe and serviceable condition.
