The Project Control Framework
This framework sets out how we, together with the Department for Transport, manage and deliver major road improvement projects.
Background
The A2 between Bean and Cobham carries over 110,000 vehicles per day and suffers from considerable congestion, particularly during peak hours. Widening to four lanes in each direction would alleviate congestion, improve safety and contribute to an integrated and sustainable transport strategy for the Kent Thameside area. The preferred route would also offer significant improvements to air quality and noise levels to many of the residents currently living close to the existing A2.
