Work to re-route and enlarge the storm water drainage system at York Road/Ashes Road under the M5 Junction 2 Viaduct began in early February and was completed on the 15th September 2006.
The works involved the installation of an 1800mm diameter pipe which extended for 300m from the existing stream adjacent to York Road to a new outfall into the river tame culvert on the east side of the M5 viaduct. The pipe was installed by tunnelling techniques adjacent to York Road and in open trench across Titford Lane and under the M5 viaduct.
