The Project
A major scheme to resurface 5 miles of the A421 between Marsh Leys and Brogborough will start on Monday 20 February 2006 and is expected to take 4 weeks to complete.
The work will take place between the following hours:
Monday to Thursday nights: 8.00pm to 6.00am
Friday nights: 9.00pm to 9.00am
The road surface has come to the end of its useful working life and both carriageways will be resurfaced with a new low noise surfacing material. The dual carriageway section of the A421 at Marston Moretaine is in good condition so does not need be resurfaced at this time.
The work will start at the northern end of the A421 at the Marsh Leys Roundabout and proceed south. The works finish at Salford Road, Brogborough. All the resurfacing work will be carried out overnight on weekdays only.
The A421 will be closed to through traffic during the hours of working and there will also be restrictions on the use of side roads depending on the location of the resurfacing work at the time. Through traffic will follow the diversion route as indicated in the map on the following page.
Although all traffic management will be removed during the day and at weekends, a mandatory 40mph speed limit will be in force at all times where there are temporary road surfaces.
These works have been planned to be carried out in the shortest practicable time and designed to keep disruption to a minimum. However, they are expected to cause some delays at times and motorists should allow extra time for their journeys or seek alternative routes wherever possible.
