As a result of objections and other representations made in response to the publication of the above draft orders, two alternatives to the Highways Agency proposals have now been published. The plans and text below describe and show these alternatives. Plans showing these alternatives in more detail may be seen at the offices of the Highways Agency, Information Point, 9 West, City House, New Station Street, Leeds LS1 4UR.
The Highways Agency's proposals and these alternatives will be considered at the Public Local Inquiries due to start at The Bridge Inn, Walshford at 10.00 on Tuesday 31 January 2006. Mr Colin Tyrrell, an independent Inspector nominated by the Lord Chancellor, will conduct the Inquiries.
Anyone who feels that they may be affected by these suggested alternatives has an opportunity to attend or be represented at the Public Inquiries or make their views known in writing to the offices of the Highways Agency. Major Projects Division, 8 West, City House, New Station Street, Leeds LS1 4UR, so that the Inspector may be aware of their views when he submits his report to The Secretary of State for Transport.
OBJECTORS ALTERNATIVE 3
This alternative locates the local access road between Tenter Hill and Wetherby Grange Bridge on the eastern side of the A1. The local access road would continue north from Bramham utilising the existing slip road, routeing to the east of Clifford Moor Farm. New roundabouts would be proposed on Winnow Lane, the A659 east of Grange Moor roundabout and east of Wetherby Grange bridge. The local access road would then pass over Wetherby Grange bridge to tie into the Wetherby Jarvis roundabout.
(See plan A1 Bramham to Wetherby Objector's Alternative 3)
OBJECTORS ALTERNATIVE 4
This alternative would amend the proposed non-motorised user route between Winnow Lane and Grange Moor roundabout. The proposed alternative would utilise the existing facilities on Winnow Lane, Clifford Moor Road and A659. At Winnow Lane, the alternative route would turn east and use Winnow Lane. It would then head north along Clifford Moor Road. At the junction with the A659, it would head west, following the A659 to rejoin the proposed non-motorised users route at Grange Moor roundabout.
(See plan A1 Bramham to Wetherby Objector's Alternative 4)
In addition to those published on 23 December 2005, The Secretary of State for Transport proposes the following modifications to the Draft Orders -

THE (A1 MOTORWAY)(BRAMHAM CROSSROADS TO KIRK DEIGHTON JUNCTION AND CONNECTING ROADS APPROPRIATION) ORDER 20

THE A1 MOTORWAY (BRAMHAM TO WETHERBY UPGRADING SECTION) COMPULSORY PURCHASE ORDER 20
