A47 Thorney Bypass - Progress Report February 2006

Bypass Opens 14th December 2005

The long awaited Thorney Bypass was officially opened by the Rt Hon Alistair Darling MP (Secretary of State for Transport) on the 14th of December 2005. The 3 mile long bypass has been completed 3 months early after a 16-month construction period.

Completion of Work

Although the bypass is now open there is still some minor work left to complete.

The footbridge at Station Road is open but minor work on the handrails and painting is still ongoing. It is anticipated that this will be complete by the middle of March although the painting is weather dependant.

Please note that the Footbridge is open at all times and should be used when crossing the bypass at Station Road.

Landscape planting is progressing well and should also be complete by mid March. Further work to grassed areas will be ongoing into the spring.

The site offices will remain at High Trees Farm until the end of March.
