Traffic Management
Traffic Management Update - October 2006
Work on the scheme is progressing well with the new road layout opening to traffic by the end of the year.
The old roundabout is no longer in use and traffic using the A382 now use the new bridge over the A30 when travelling towards Exeter.
This means that road users travelling north along the A382 from the Moretonhampstead direction who wish to turn right towards Exeter will now go over the bridge and join the eastbound carriageway to Exeter. The new routes have been clearly signed. From the evening of 2nd October there will be a full contra flow on the eastbound carriageway, this will remain in place until December.
When considering where to start the traffic management restrictions on the westbound carriageway, we decided to move it back along the carriageway to a position where road users have a clear sight ahead of this temporary change in the road layout.
This decision was taken jointly between the Highways Agency, our contractor Interserve, and the police and is reviewed on a regular basis. This adds less than 30 seconds to your journey if there is no traffic backing up from the roundabout. If there is a queue, it makes no difference at all.
The speed limits of 40 mph, reducing to 30 mph are being enforced by the Devon & Cornwall Camera Partnership throughout the scheme.
