Non Technical Summary of the Environmental Statement - May 2003

Cultural Heritage

Measures taken to minimise impacts upon archaeological remains in the area include:

  • The scheme alignment avoids many historic and archaeological features;
  • Archaeologists would be present during top soil stripping to survey and record any finds.  Information learnt about the history of the area would be published;
  • Removal of medieval Cornish hedges at Belowda would be minimised, whilst the finished road would provide open views over the field system;
  • Information about the cultural heritage of the area would be provided at some of the lay-bys.
