The Project
We carried out the following maintenance on the bridge.
- Parapet replacement - completed 20th December 2006
- Carriageway resurfacing
Update on the works
On the 22nd January work began to re-surface the east bound carriageway of the Weaver Viaduct. To carry out this work we needed to use a contra flow system with some traffic running on the opposite carriageway. Because there is a long bend just east of the viaduct the point where we open up the central reserve to allow traffic from one carriageway to the other had to be some distance from the bridge. We also decided to use existing crossover points to save time and money.
Work started to prepare the traffic management for these works on the 2nd January. This work also included moving the speed restriction cameras and adding to the CCTV cameras so that we can quickly help broken down vehicles.
The works have been completed 1 week ahead of schedule, and normal restrictions returned to the M56.
