The Project Control Framework
This framework sets out how we, together with the Department for Transport, manage and deliver major road improvement projects.
Public Consultation
Public consultation took place in June 2005. The public and stakeholders, including County and District Councils, were consulted. The majority (95%) of those consulted supported the principle of upgrading the A1 between Dishforth and Barton. Issues raised included safety, congestion reduction and improved traffic flow, journey time reduction, the poor standard of the existing road, promotion of a Bedale Bypass, business links, junction rationalisation, environmental impacts, particularly noise and visual intrusion.
