A19/A184 Testos Traffic Signal renewal
Part of our ongoing programme of work to maintain England's strategic road network
Where was the project located?
The Testos roundabout is the point at which the A19 meets the A184 close to the village of West Boldon, South Tyneside
Why was the scheme needed?
The scheme was necessary in order to replace traffic signals that, due to their age, had caused failures over the last two years. This was causing issues with congestion.
What work was carried out?
The traffic lights, cables, traffic detection equipment and controller unit were replaced.
How did this benefit road users?
The installation of new modern equipment should prevent faults and allow the equipment at this junction to run safely and reliably and therefore reducing delays and congestion.
