Part of our ongoing programme of work to maintain England's strategic road network

Cost:  £583,000

Managed by:   Area 4

Where was the project located?

Work took place between Middle Farm and Selmeston, east of the junction with the A26, in East Sussex.

Why was the scheme needed?

The work was required because our studies showed that the road surface in the area had deteriorated and the road markings had faded. Signage was nearing the end of its functional life.

What work was carried out?

We resurfaced the road and installed new warning signs, road studs and road markings on the A27 Lewes Road.

How did this benefit road users?

The resurfacing work has provided a smoother, quieter carriageway and improved safety for road users. The signage and road marking work will reduce the risk of personal injury collisions occuring on this section of the A27.
