Where was the project located?

The works were located on the M181 between Midmoor and Frodingham, near Scunthorpe in North Lincolnshire.

Why was the scheme needed?

The previous barrier (Vehicle Restraint System) was nearing the end of its serviceable life and required replacing.

What work was carried out?

The works involved:

  • The replacement of the existing steel central reserve safety fence
  • Installation of concrete barriers to protect bridge piers

The works will benefit road users by improving safety and reducing delays due to maintenance.
