-

Where was the project located?

The work was carried out to the bridge which carries the Huntercombe Spur over the M4 motorway at Junction 7 (Slough/Maidenhead).

The works started in October 2013 and were completed ahead of schedule in February 2014.

Why was the scheme needed?

Routine inspections of the structure had identified extensive deterioration. Remedial works were required to address the high chloride level and deterioration of the crosshead beams.

What work was carried out?

Repairs took place to the concrete sections of the pier crosshead beams and abutments along both the east and westbound verges and the central reservation at the M4 junction 7.

How did this benefit road users?

By undertaking these works we will ensure a prolonged life for the structure, maintain public safety and reduce future delays.
