Where was the project located?
The works were on the M60 between junctions 4 and 2 and on the A34 Kingsway at Gatley.

Why was the scheme needed?
The scheme was carried out to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve the reliability of journey times for road users.

What work was carried out?
The link road from the M60 to the M56, known as the Sharston link, was improved by the creation of an additional anti-clockwise running lane on the M60. This has increased the number of lanes on the M60 from 3 to 4, which will assist in relieving congestion and improving traffic flow.

The link from M60 junction 3 to the A34 was widened to improve capacity. In addition, traffic signals have been installed to improve the merge arrangements with the A34.

How did this benefit road users?
The scheme was carried out to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve the reliability of journey times for road users.
