Highways England Post Incident Bulletin


The trial period for Post Inci­dent Bul­letins has now ended and your feed­back has been over­whelm­ingly pos­i­tive. As a result of this feed­back we will con­tinue to pro­vide the Post Inci­dent Bul­letin Ser­vice and have made some improve­ments based on your suggestions.

We have now archived the bul­letins by year and month and future updates will make the bul­letins eas­ier to search for and improve their functionality.

We encour­age you to con­tinue read­ing the bul­letins and con­tinue to let us know what you think. Thank you for the feed­back pro­vided so far.


We know that many of you would like more details about the inci­dents that delay you or sig­nif­i­cantly impact your jour­ney. Often you never get to see the rea­sons for your delay or the work involved in clear­ing an inci­dent to enable a road to reopen.  As a result, you can be left won­der­ing what all the fuss was about?

At our Birm­ing­ham National Traf­fic Oper­a­tions Cen­tre (NTOC), we have a team of National Inci­dent Liai­son Offi­cers (NILO). These offi­cers pro­vide real time infor­ma­tion about inci­dents to our cus­tomers via social media as well as real time traf­fic infor­ma­tion to the travel media.

But we also want to offer you a greater level of infor­ma­tion about some of the most sig­nif­i­cant inci­dents on our net­work and where pos­si­ble, pro­vide images to help you under­stand the chal­leng­ing nature of the inci­dents that occur.

We have intro­duced what we call a ‘Post Inci­dent Bul­letin’. New bul­letins will be issued for the most sig­nif­i­cant and high­est impact­ing inci­dents on our net­work. They will con­tain the key facts and timescales about an inci­dent to help you bet­ter under­stand the issues we face and to give you some insight in to how we respond, deal with and clear Incidents.

We would also like to hear your feed­back on our post inci­dent bul­letins. All feed­back is wel­come and will be use­ful in help­ing us develop and enhance the ser­vice we pro­vide for you.
