Highways England Post Incident Bulletin

Update

The trial period for Post Incident Bulletins has now ended and your feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. As a result of this feedback we will continue to provide the Post Incident Bulletin Service and have made some improvements based on your suggestions.

We have now archived the bulletins by year and month and future updates will make the bulletins easier to search for and improve their functionality.

We encourage you to continue reading the bulletins and continue to let us know what you think. Thank you for the feedback provided so far.

Background

We know that many of you would like more details about the incidents that delay you or significantly impact your journey. Often you never get to see the reasons for your delay or the work involved in clearing an incident to enable a road to reopen.  As a result, you can be left wondering what all the fuss was about?

At our Birmingham National Traffic Operations Centre (NTOC), we have a team of National Incident Liaison Officers (NILO). These officers provide real time information about incidents to our customers via social media as well as real time traffic information to the travel media.

But we also want to offer you a greater level of information about some of the most significant incidents on our network and where possible, provide images to help you understand the challenging nature of the incidents that occur.

We have introduced what we call a ‘Post Incident Bulletin’. New bulletins will be issued for the most significant and highest impacting incidents on our network. They will contain the key facts and timescales about an incident to help you better understand the issues we face and to give you some insight in to how we respond, deal with and clear Incidents.

We would also like to hear your feedback on our post incident bulletins. All feedback is welcome and will be useful in helping us develop and enhance the service we provide for you.

Remember, you can get up-to-date traffic information via our Twitter channels or by contacting our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@highwaysengland.co.uk
