Summer Driving - Helping you to Plan your Journey

The Summer Driving 2006 leaflet has been produced as part of our commitment to help drivers enjoy smoother journeys and avoid heavy traffic near roadworks.

The pocket-sized guide is packed with information for drivers, including tips and contact details where you can obtain detailed, up-to-the minute traffic and travel information before setting out.

To help plan your journey the leaflet gives an overview of major roadworks on the Agency's network. Drivers can also consult the Highways Agency Traffic England website or the interactive phone line on 08700 660 115 for 24-hour real-time traffic information.

In the interest of your safety and other road users the Highways Agency encourages drivers to take regular breaks and to watch out for roadworkers and their vehicles when leaving or entering roadworks. To minimise disruption to our roads many sections of the network now have traffic officers on patrol, who work with local police forces to help clear incident sites to get traffic flowing again.

For drivers and their families using the road network over the summer holiday period the guide also includes a light-hearted quiz of interesting things to look out for - which may stop the familiar cry of 'are we there yet?' for at least for fifteen minutes!

The Summer Driving guide is available to download below. Copies can also be obtained from the Highways Agency Information Line on 08457 50 40 30, or email ha_info@highways.gsi.gov.uk and quote reference HA61/06.

Seasonal Driving Leaflets

To help you plan your journeys the Highways Agency also produces a number of seasonal driving leaflets. These leaflets cover six regions throughout England. They are updated four times a year and will help you plan your journeys while we continue to improve the road network.
